Chad Needs Help!!!

Hey Everybody!

I am blessed to be a part of Rolling Hills Community Church, a church plant in Franklin, Tennessee, and it's been amazing to watch and be a part of God's plan for this church. He has opened a door for a team of ministers from the church to go to Cape Town, South Africa February 23-March 10, 2007.

While in Cape Town we will be working with Living Hope Community Centre, a ministry that is a faith based non-profit NGO. Started in 1999, Living Hope aims to assist the Deep South of Cape Town as it faces the effects of the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Living Hope’s objectives are “to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ in a life changing way and to encourage people to follow Christ. To play a vital role in the prevention, care and treatment of HIV/AIDS. To undertake community development through educational and health related programmes [sic].”

South Africa is one of the countries most affected by HIV, with 5 million HIV infected individuals. Twenty percent of the 15-49 year old population is infected, and in parts of the country more than 35% of women of childbearing age are infected. Overall, 11-12% of the population is infected. About 1,700 new infections occur each day, and approximately 40% of deaths are believed to be AIDS-related. There are approximately 660,000 children who have lost one or both parents, and by 2008 1.6 million children will have been orphaned by AIDS. Without effective prevention and treatment 5-7 million cumulative AIDS deaths are anticipated by 2010 (with 1.5 million deaths in 2010 alone), and there will be over 1 million sick with AIDS. The epidemic could cost South Africa as much as 17% in GDP growth by 2010. The extraction industries, education, and health are among the sectors that will be severely affected. A 2003 national operational plan provides the structure for a comprehensive response to HIV and AIDS, including a national rollout of antiretroviral therapy. (www.state.gov/r/pa/ei/bgn/2898.htm)

As you can see, South Africa is a country with great need from HIV/AIDS alone, not considering the many other racial, ethnic, and spiritual disconnects that are so prevalent in South Africa. Each team member is responsible for raising their financial support for the trip. The cost of the trip is $3,450, which includes our flight, lodging, meals, facilities, and supplies. These funds are due by February 15, 2007 so that all arrangements can be completed. All contributions are tax deductible. I would greatly appreciate any support you would offer.

While financial support is important, the most valuable contribution you can make will be your prayers for a safe, successful trip for the mission team, the preparation of our hearts, and that God will be opening the hearts of the South African people. Your financial support, in any amount as the Lord leads you, will be a great help to me and will be an amazing part of God's work in Cape Town. Contributions can be made out to Rolling Hills Community Church with a sticky note attached that is labeled with my name and "South Africa Mission Trip." It can be mailed directly to the church at 5120 Virginia Way, C-12, Brentwood, TN 37027. Thank you so much for your prayerful and/or financial support in this opportunity to serve God and be His light to the world.

Sincerely in Christ…
